Since 16 July 2021, it is against the law to sell products with CE marking without a Responsible Person in the EU. In addition, a Responsible Person must also be specified in accordance with the General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988.

Self-strangulation through CSDDD

SCIP: Five new chemicals on candidate list

Products such as inks and toners, adhesives and sealants as well as detergents and cleaning agents are affected. Incorrect or omitted SCIP notifications of articles containing SVHC are penalised with a fine of up to 10,000 euros per case.

Right to repair: Update

The main products affected are washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, hoovers, bicycles and mobile phones. The provisional agreement applies to all products subject to repairability requirements under Union law and includes an obligation for manufacturers of such goods to repair them; a European Repair Information Form will also be set up to provide consumers with the most important data relating to the repair service, and the national platforms for information on repairs will be merged into a European online platform.

Ban on the sale of sky lanterns

Consumers often assume that if the product is purchased legally, its use is also authorised. This loophole is to be closed in future by amending the 15th Ordinance to the Product Safety Act.

Standardised chargers in the draft law

Mobile phones, tablets, notebooks, digital cameras, eBook readers and headphones are affected. The new regulations will apply to most devices from 28 December 2024.

Shaming in case of law violation

Companies with more than 250 employees and a turnover of over 40 million euros may be affected. Civil liability regulations for damages are envisaged. Sanctions such as naming and shaming and the imposition of fines totalling at least 5% of global net turnover are planned.
