New registration obligation for packaging in Spain

13/12/2024 - GPSR: The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) came into force on 13 December 2024. For months now, sellers have been asked by the major online marketplaces to submit compliance information for the offer for which there is a risk of refusal. 01/01/2025 - Packaging Act: Companies that have not registered their packaging quantities in the LUCID Packaging Register by 31 December 2024 and do not conclude a system participation agreement for 2025 are subject to an immediate distribution ban. 01/2025 - EU packaging regulation (PPWR): The PPWR was adopted by the EU member states on 16 December 2024 and is expected to come into force at the beginning of 2025. 18/08/2025 - EU Batteries Regulation: All authorised individual batteries and batteries contained in a product offered for sale in the EU must be CE marked and have a person responsible for the EU. Producers of individually sold batteries and batteries contained in a product must prove their compliance to online marketplaces, e.g. Amazon, by providing a registration number before 18 August 2025.
